Banking regulations of the European Union and enforcement actions in the post-crisis period

This article addresses an issue of the increase in banking regulations in the European Union in the post-crisis period, and importance of the compliance function and enforcement actions of banking supervision authorities. The purpose of the article is to analyze links between anincrease in the regulatory requirements for banks in the post-crisis period, as well as the role of the compliance function and enforcement actions of banking supervision authorities. An attempt is also made to analyze the scale of expansion of post-crisis banking regulations in the European Union. The results indicate that an increased number of post-crisis banking regulations and their level of complexity leads to the intensification of disciplinary measures by the banking supervision authorities.
